José L. Moreno was more than an architect—he was a cultural architect of the Riviera Maya. In the early 1980s, he designed and built the Maroma Hotel, widely regarded as one of the finest beach resorts in the world. This celebrated property, sold to Orient-Express and now operated by LVMH’s Belmond group, was just the beginning of a legacy.

After selling Maroma, Moreno developed Kin Sol Soleil, another luxurious boutique hotel that embraced authenticity, privacy, and natural beauty. It too was later acquired by LVMH. Today, his family maintains the final, undeveloped portions of his land—properties that still bear the imprint of his philosophy and vision!
